Body Language – the Secret to Deciphering Red and Green Light Flirting Signals

Katia Loisel-Furey asked:

Red and Green Light Flirting Signals

The secret of deciphering body language is simple if you know what to look for, writes Katia Loisel-Furey  co-author of the two sided book How to get the man you want & How to get the woman you want.

Before our conscious has had time to process the fact that we’re attracted to someone, our physiology has changed and our bodies have already begun to send out a barrage of green light signals that say, ‘you’re hot!’

We stand tall and erect, give ourselves a non-surgical chest lift, pull our stomachs in and tense our muscles. It’s our body’s way of getting us ready for a possible sexual encounter.

But these aren’t the only changes taking place. Bubbling away under the surface like a volcano that’s about to erupt are our micro gestures. These happen within a micro second of first meeting someone and are very hard to spot and even harder to fake.

What to look out for

Watch closely for these micro signals and you’ll be able to decipher what your perspective partner’s body is really telling you. If their shoulders rise quickly, (the shoulder flash), faces open up, eyes widen, pupils dilate, eyebrows raise for a flash, nostrils flare and lips part, they like what they see.

On the other hand, if you notice twitching, facial spasms or weird eye movements then you’ve been given the red light and it’s time to give them a little breathing space.

Scientists at the Indiana University found that men are ill equipped when it comes to understanding female body language. Thankfully women send out up to 5 times as many signals.

So how can you tell if they’re interested or just being friendly?

A flirting signal on it’s own means nothing, so always look for a cluster of 3 – 5 signals simultaneously and remember, if they’re not making eye contact or their body’s not pointed at you, chances are they’re flirting with someone else.

Here are 10 telltale green light signals that tell you that they fancy you.

They’ll…

Move into your personal space

Move their head closer to yours or do the ‘whisper and lean’

Maintain eye contact for two thirds of the time

Give you the four second face scan

Keep looking at your mouth

Touch their mouth or lick their lips

Flick, fluff or smooth their hair

Preen or caress themselves

Unbutton their clothes

Mirror your actions back to you

If they start flirting in reverse, by moving away, using arm barriers or avoiding eye contact you’ve been given the red light. It’s time to back off slowly and give the object of your desire a bit of room before their barriers go up …permanently.

Solar Spot Lights: Powerful Night Lighting

Ernesto Maitim asked:

Solar spot lights, just like the other popular outdoor solar lighting, rely on the energy coming from our sun to offer sufficient lighting during the night time. And because the gadget runs on solar power, home owners need not connect into the electric grid to operate. This is great news, since dependence on the solar energy would only mean these solar spot lights will still work despite any possible incidents of brownout.

This type of outdoor solar lights is available as a single lighting unit or as a set of lights. Usually a pair of these lights comes with a corresponding solar panel which can be placed either near or far away from the lights. It is recommended that the solar panels of the lights are placed a few feet away from them.

The distance between the panels and these outdoor solar lights themselves actually allow for the former to optimally accept the energy from the rays of the sun, whether or not the lighting devices are exposed to the sun rays themselves. And while the solar panels of the spot lights are not built in, this means there are models that have more than average sizes. This allows for the solar spot lights to have more stored power which means longer lighting time.

More capacity to generate and store power also allow for multiple LED units to light up. It is ideal that 5 to up to 10 Light emitting diodes should be in solar spot lights in order to provide really powerful and bright illumination. The strong and focused light is the reason why it is called a spot light in the first place. If a light only has one or two LED, then this has less illumination, much like an accent lighting gadget.

Solar spot lights are best utilized to provide bright lighting on most part of your garden during the evening. You can train the light on a particular décor or tree to draw attention to it.  Such lights are also ideal for making your garden and walkway visible and safe for your night visitors to walk through.

Go Green With LED Lighting

Robert Badaracco asked:

LED lighting is often overlooked in ‘green building’ literature while more expensive and less satisfactory environmental solutions are pursued. The purpose of this article is to discuss some of the benefits of LED lighting, and to argue that LED lighting should be considered an essential element of any ‘green’ building, house, or construction project. Let’s start with some of the benefits of LEDs. Pardon the list but there are so many it is difficult to work it into a paragraph.

LED lighting uses 80% less energy than incandescent lighting.

LED lighting produces 500% more light per Watt.

LED lights have lenses that focus the light into a pattern of equal distribution adding to energy savings as light is not wasted bouncing in unneeded directions.

LED lights do not produce as much heat. This can save on energy and maintenance costs.

LED lights do not emit significant UV or IR radiation. IR is back to the heat issue, and UV is something we generally try to avoid.

LED lights last 50,000 hours or about 25 times longer than incandescent lights. This saves obviously on maintenance and disposal.

LED lights do not contain mercury common in fluorescents.

The above is meant to be a list of environmental benefits. There are other aesthetic benefits of LEDs. For one the color temperature can be precisely controlled. Secondly, the lenses allow for better lighting rendition. This pretty much summarizes most of the benefits, and there are not any environmental risks posed by LEDs. I would simply note that while other green technologies may have some difficult drawbacks to overcome that the advantages of LED lighting are fairly strait forward and clear cut.

If there was an apparent drawback, at least from the consumer perspective, it would be the expense. An LED PAR38 12 Watt light can cost 10 times as much an incandescent light. In fact, however, the expense of LEDs is not a drawback at all. Once, energy and replacement costs are figured in the LED lights actually save money. Simply consider the cost of 24 extra replacements of the incandescent light. Then factor the extra energy use and its really not even close. We did not include that in the summer LEDs put less load on the air conditioning. Its clear the LED light ultimately saves money, but many are reluctant to purchase due to the longer term of the payback.

So if your convinced, and you want to ‘go LED’ what are some of the best products? In fact there is a broad spectrum of lighting possibilities. Everything from PAR lights to recessed ceiling lights are available all at costs that payback before too long. You should also consider the source of your LEDs. The best LEDs (in this authors opinion) are produced by CREE and SSC. CREE is a US company and SSC is in Korea. The LED fixtures may be made by any manufacturer but try to verify the source of the LEDs.

Finally, the real benefit of LEDs is that they are cool. Yes, they are not as hot as incandescent lights, but I mean they are cool. When you see the lights and what they do it is impressive. Considering how important lighting is LEDs represent the best solution and they are available today.

Shoddy Green Laser Pointers – What you Should Expect

Frank asked:

Working in the laser industry, I have come across many complaints from buyers all over the world about shoddy green lasers pointers. In order to help customers understand the dangers of shoddy laser pointers and clear up some misunderstandings, we’ve listed below information on shoddy lasers.

Infrared (IR) light

Green light (wavelength of 532nm) is the most visible color to the human eye and any green laser you buy should give out green light and ONLY green light. Our Viper laser pointers and Hulk portable lasers for example only give out 532nm green light. Shoddy lasers though give out green light AND dangerous infrared (IR) light. Infrared light cannot be seen by the human eye so the beam from these shoddy laser pointers is not as bright as it should be and is also very dangerous.

You may be asking how a shoddy laser pointer can have a power of 200mW but be less bright than a 55mW Viper laser pointer. Here is the trick. As we just said, these laser pointers give out a lot of infrared light which you can’t see making them less bright. Laser power meters however cannot distinguish between green light and infrared light. The 200mW power level of a shoddy laser pointer will normally be made up of mostly infrared light. For example a 200mW shoddy laser pointer is likely to have a combination 25mW green (532nm) and 175mW infrared (808nm). A 55mW Viper laser pointer will be 55mW of green light with virtually no infrared light.

All genuine green laser pointers and portable lasers have infrared filters inside them that blocks infrared light. Shoddy laser pointers have had this filter removed. Without this filter, these laser pointers are very dangerous because the infrared light can damage your eyes and you would not even be aware of it until to late.

So if you have a high powered laser pointer that is not bright, it is most likely giving out lots of dangerous IR so please use it with extreme care, or even better, destroy it.

Poor quality cases/shells

Another problem with shoddy laser pointers is their casing or shell. Their shell is commonly made out of normal low quality metal or even plastic. A high powered DPSS laser module generates a lot of heat that needs to be dissipated by the shell. If shell is made out of poor quality material, the heat from the laser can not be released and will very quickly build up. This heat build up will cause the laser diode to burn out which completely destroys the laser. The shell for both Viper laser pointers and Hulk portable lasers are made from a special metal alloy that is very effective at dissipating heat and protecting the laser diode. When a 95mW Viper laser pointer has been working for 60 seconds, your hand can feel the heat been released from the shell as the laser is kept cool.

Pot modding

Many shoddy lasers are only designed to operate at low powers such as 5 or 10mW. These lasers have the power from the batteries to the diode boosted to give a more powerful beam. The problem with modding these lasers is that the diode, their shell, lens, crystal and even the on/off switch are not designed for the higher power and temperature. Most modified lasers will burn out and be completely useless in a matter of days, often only hours. A simple analogy is putting a 200W light globe in a light that is only designed to handle 25W. The light may work but it will be long before the frame warps, the mounting melts and the light is destroyed.

Component Quality

Shoddy lasers are designed at standard to meet low specifications. The components and manufacturing process used are fast and very cheap. Every component in these shoddy lasers, the diode, crystal, lens assembly, IR filter (when they have them which is rare), shell, heat sink, circuit board and battery terminals have VERY poor quality and a typical life span of 30 to 50 hours maximum. Our green lasers on the other hand come from a world leading manufacturer and use quality components that meet every single international standard. Our lasers are designed to last 5000 hours and our guarantees reflect this.

Why buy a shoddy laser?

The only advantage in buying a shoddy green laser pointer is that they are sold with attractive carrying cases/boxes. Sadly even these cases have quality problems and are normally knock offs or imitations of brand name boxes such as “Parker Pen” boxes. These boxes are designed to carry pens, lighters and everything other than delicate optics and electronics. In the end, a plastic box can be easily copied or imitated but there is no substitute for cutting edge lasers technology

Solar Led Lights: High-tech Lighting Device

Ernesto Maitim asked:

lights are making a major difference in everything that’s about lighting. From Christmas lights, traffic lights to head lamps and flash lights, those made with light emitting diodes are the ones most popular. What’s more, because it is solar, there’s nothing to plug. Just expose the gadget to the rays of the sun. Indeed, LED and solar power are the team to beat when it comes to coming up with environmentally friendly lighting. One of the popular uses solar led lights is lighting up the exterior of our homes. All LED lights have to do is gather the solar energy all day and have them stored in their solar batteries. Fully charged ones can actually power up the lighting for a maximum of 10 hours. To really optimize the charging capacity of the batteries, just make sure that the solar led lights are totally exposed to the rays of the sun at the longest time. And so it is very practical to buy these types of outdoor solar lighting as their exposure outside your homes, getting all drenched by the sunshine, is what exactly makes them work. Solar Led lights are likewise in the form of lighting for the yard, albeit a good number of lights are necessary to really brighten up the area. And what would the Christmas tree be without those tiny twinkling multi-color lights to cheer up the season. Much of the Solar Christmas lights nowadays are made from light emitting diodes. And so, indeed, the solar Led technology is here to stay, trying to provide bright illumination, adding exciting to our homes and their exteriors – all without the use of conventional power but instead tap the free and clean energy from the sun. What Exactly Is Led Lighting?

Jonathan Gal asked:

It is difficult to provide a quick and simple answer about LED lighting. Basically their name comes from the fact that they are actually Light Emitting Diodes that are just small electronic fixtures that illuminate as electrical currents pass through them. Yes, this sound quite similar to traditional light bulbs, but in fact they are remarkably different. LED’s are closer to the old transistor radio technologies than they are to light bulbs.

Traditional or old-fashioned light bulbs work with a small and easily broken filament that casts a brilliant glow whenever the electrical current within their structures are completed. This means they tend to burn out quickly, make a lot of heat and consume significantly more electricity than LED bulbs.

Where do you find LED light bulbs? For the most part they are found as indicator lights in computer and electronic equipment; they frequently appear in modern flashlights and remote controls, exterior lighting fixtures, solar lighting and even holiday light strands. They are also the bulb of choice for the bulk of solar lighting fixtures available today. They appear in the items listed because of their durability, reliability and tremendously long life spans.

There are some common misperceptions about LED lights that lead people to avoid them, and these include:

They cast a feeble light They cost a great deal more than standard bulbs They are only available in a blue/white color They are small and limited in application

All of these statements are terribly inaccurate, and over the coming decades consumers are going to see the LED technology appearing in more and more applications. This is due to many reasons including their ability to cast strong lights, such as spot and flood lighting applications, their ever shrinking costs, their wide range of colors and their ability to withstand shocks, weather and heavy usage which is making them more desirable in a wider range of uses. Additionally, they do not contain the same wide range of toxic elements and materials as other lighting options, including such heavy metals as mercury which frequently appears in fluorescent lights. This is of great interest to those in the “green” movements and those looking for lower priced items.

Many consumers remain convinced that LED lights are more costly, and the facts need to be addressed once and for all. First, LED bulbs tend to last a tremendously longer time span than traditional bulbs which all ready makes them well worth any difference in cost. Secondly, they do not use expensive materials in their manufacture, and finally they are far more efficient when applied in fixtures such as solar garden lights. What this all means is that an LED fixture will pay for itself in savings much faster than an investment in traditional, filament bulbs.

Loading Dock Lights

Camille Howe asked:

Loading dock lights are used on truck loading docks to bring light into long semi trailers and surrounding work area. The need is great as so little light often reaches the end of an enclosed trailer. For safety reasons and efficiency, it’s important to have proper lighting in loading dock areas. Loading dock lights have become enormously adaptable for numerous types of lighting applications, such as loading dock areas and warehouse work areas where work lights need to be portable. Loading dock lights are necessary for any business which does a lot of loading and unloading of heavy trucks. There are most likely other ways loading dock lights can be used in an industrial lighting situation where you want keep the light against a wall or swing out to provide ample light down the length of a truck trailer. Most companies provide several different types of loading dock lights including incandescent, halogen, high pressure sodium and rayton composite fluorescent work lights. Easy Rack?s loading dock lights reduce freight damage, expedite loading and unloading operations and provides consistent illumination inside semi-trailers or around dock worker areas. All Dock Loading Lights are UL listed.

Work lights are portable and can also be used in a residential environment when working in areas of poor light such as basements, attics, crawl spaces, working under sinks, cabinets or in dark garages. Other work light uses include painting, sanding, repairing, laying floor or staining. Whatever the job may be we have a work light that will fit the job
